| The Loudoun Border Guards Fife & Drum Corps
is composed of 9-18 year olds from Loudoun County and surrounding
areas, and is based on a pre-Civil War field music unit -
the Hillsboro Border Guards, which was comprised of Loudoun
County militia musicians. The Corps is designed to promote
the study of both music and history among the young people
in Northern Virginia.
Loudoun Border Guards are honored to be hosting the 2007
National Muster on June 15-16, 2007 in beautiful historic
Leesburg, VA. This muster will coincide with the celebration
of LBG's 10th Anniversary and the 400th celebration of Jamestown
and the 250th celebrations of Loudoun County and Leesburg.
The Corps recorded their first CD "American Christmas"
in 2002. The CD is a collection of patriotic and holiday favorites
interwoven to tell the story of the American Christmas holiday.
The recording was made possible through a grant from the Loudoun
County Restricted Transient Occupancy Tax Funds. Proceeds
from the sale of the recording is funding an Honorarium Fund
for the members of the Corps.
The Loudoun Border Guards have recently been named an official
respresentative of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Town
of Leesburg.
